Outside Reading

I am reading the book Metamorphasis by Franz Kafka. I am really enjoying this book! A lot of books are hard to get into for me, because they have slow, boring begginings. But this book is captivating from the very first words. It starts out saying he woke up as a monstrous cockroach. This made me wanna keep reading to find out why this happens.

the dominant literary element, i could tell righ tfrom the start was imagery. The author uses imagery a lot because it really describes how he looks now and how he sees things as a cockroach so he needs to decribe that all. I also the tone is a lot of curiousty as to why he is a cockroach, but i just started so i'm not sure if the tone will change later on in the book.

reading

When i find a book i like i really get into it and start reading fast. but when the book is just okay i tend to read slower. The books that i usually get more into are realistic fiction books because i can usually relate to the characters more which helps me understand how they are feeling. I don't really like to read big books, because i don't always have enough time to finish them but i am hoping this year i will be able to finish some larger books and become a better, faster reader, that is why i wanted to take this class.

My ideal reading spot is probably just in my own bed. I like to sit under my covers and read at night time. I prefer not reading during the day because there are too many distractions. I get distracted very easily. I don't like reading when there are other people in the room, i usually end up talking to them. And i hate when people come interrupted me while i am reading
