Poetry out loud performances

Jackson Hille
Forgetfulness
by Billy Collins

Jackson Hill uses a very satirical tone and dry humor to tell this poem. He talks uses pauses to make it dramatic and give the audience time to think about what he just said. He also emphasizes on certain words to enhance the humor of them. He stands on the stage very confidently which makes him and the poem seem more powerful. He also uses movements to emphasize on the humor but not to much so it won't distract from what he is saying. One more thing that Jackson does is he stares at the audience and makes you feel like he is talking to you and makes it personal.

This poem shows that everyone can be forgetful at times. It goes through and explains in humor the things we all tend to forget. "As if one by one the memories you used to harbor decided to retire to the southern hemisphere of the brain. To a remote fishing village, where there are no phones." This is a part that makes everyone laugh. It ties together what he is saying about how easily people forget. I can definately relate to the things he lists that people forget.
