Metamorphasis: imagery

I think that imagery is definately the main literary element. I think the author used this literary element so heavily because, it is about a man who one day just wakes up as a cockroach. Because of the changes in his body, his whole life style changes, which is what the book is about. So the author needs to describe with lots of imagery how he looks now, as a cockroach, to help the reader understand. In the book he loses some of his abilities to do things that he could as a human. Like he can't use his surroundings in the same way because he has no fingers and he has to crawl so the surroundings are also described with imagery.

The author describes the differences from before with a lot of imagery because he wants to show why the family isn't as excepting of there son. He looks so different that the dad can't believe it is really his son. And everyone is completely shocked to see this change in Greggor.

  1. I totally agree that imagery is the main literary element. I also agree that Franz Kakfa chose imagery to describe Gregors relationship with his family after becoming a bug.
